Biomatic
Relocates Laboratory
Equipment for Synta Pharmaceuticals
Franklin, MA (July 2005)
-- Biomatic successfully completed the relocation of Synta Pharmaceuticals'
laboratories to a new, expanded facility in Lexington, MA. Biomatic was
selected by the biotechnology company to be Project Manager in the shift to
Synta's new location in Greater Boston.
The relocation project included
the dismantling and packing of
various lab equipment from three departments in two locations as well as
coordination of the move with the moving vendor and Synta's Facility
Management.
In addition to moving laboratory equipment, Biomatic also
oversaw the move of Synta's Analytical and Biology departments and validation
of instruments after the move. Biomatic's relocation services included:
 |
Dismantling, tagging, and packing a wide range of
sophisticated laboratory equipment, including HPLC systems, mass
spectrophotometers, plate readers, plate washers, centrifuges, large
microscopes, imagers, luminometers, and other equipment. |
 |
Testing HPLC systems prior to the move and preparing them
for the move. |
 |
Gathering and packing all instrument-related documents. |
 |
Packing labware, accessories, and laboratory equipment
spare parts. |
 |
Coordinating the move with the selected moving company
and overseeing the handling of sophisticated laboratory equipment. |
 |
Overseeing and assuring the proper handling of chemicals
and waste management by the selected waste management company. |
 |
Unpacking and installing laboratory equipment at the new
location. |
 |
Testing the functionality of each laboratory instrument
at its new location. |
 |
Providing IQ, OQ, PQ validation services for a
variety of instruments from various manufacturers, including HPLC systems
and LC systems connected to mass spectrophotometers. |
Through well-planned coordination with Synta Facility
Management and the overseeing of the selected moving and chemical waste
management vendors, Biomatic's team of technical staff provided expert
services for Synta's important relocation.
All components in each system were identified, including
cables, communication connections, and fluidic lines, which were packaged
separately and then packed with each system to assure each system was properly
identified and each component was available for faster setup and less lab
downtime. The majority of the HPLC and LC systems connected to mass
spectrophotometers were running within 2-3 days after dismantling. In
addition, all IQ, OQ, PQ qualifications were performed as planned.
The result was a 100% successful relocation with no
instrument damage during the move. The move produced a fast turn around with
minimal instrument downtime for Synta, all at a competitive price.
In addition to relocation services for sophisticated
laboratories, Biomatic offers multi-vendor IQ OQ PQ validation as well as
service and maintenance on laboratory equipment. Biomatic has performed IQ OQ
PQ/PV validations on more than a thousand analytical systems and
temperature-controlled devices such as environmental chambers, freezers,
humidity and CO2 incubators, standard and walk-in refrigerators, and ovens
across the United States. Our experienced technical chemists validate
instruments using real-world testing procedures and NIST / vendor traceable
tools and standards.
As well as having the expertise, Biomatic is positioned to
assist companies no matter where their labs are located. We have offices in
the Greater Boston region; at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in West Haven, CT; and the
Research Triangle Park, NC. Biomatic also travels across the U.S. providing
validation services from California to Florida.
Biomatic invites you to bring your validation and compliance
questions to us as well as your other laboratory challenges so that we can
improve your laboratory's operation, whether for a GMP/GLP regulated facility
or a standard laboratory.
