BASF selects Biomatic to provide relocation
and IQ OQ PQ validation services

Princeton, NJ (May 8, 2002)- BASF Corporation announced that Biomatic Technologies Inc. has been selected to provide complete relocation services for transferring all laboratory instruments and equipment from Princeton, NJ, to various BASF facilities around the world.
Biomatic will be relocating BASF Corporation Research & Development from its Princeton, NJ, facility to Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC, and other BASF facilities, BASF announced May 8. 2002.

IQ, OQ, PQ validation of a range of sophisticated laboratory instruments including HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS, spectrophotometers, balances, and other
instruments |
Biomatic technical staff is responsible for barcode labeling of all
assets; pre-shipment preparation of lab equipment before dismantling; disassembling each
instrument; and foam packing all sensitive and delicate instruments for shipping to various BASF sites.
The process includes:

Inventory and identification of all assets using barcode labels. |

Digital pictures of each system for future reference and identification of systems or components, assembling, or other uses. |

Dismantling each instrument and making sure that all systems, components, accessories, connecting tubing, cables, software, manuals, and other pieces are properly documented and packed. |

Employing Biomatic’s foam packing technology for packing delicate instruments. |

Once the equipment has been transferred to RTP
and other sites, Biomatic will be installing each system and, if necessary, repairing or providing PM, before calibrating and performing IQ, OQ, PQ validation on the systems. |
Biomatic will be relocating several hundred laboratory instruments and equipment to various sites for BASF, said Dr. Joseph Tehrani, president and CEO of Biomatic. We are pleased that Biomatic was chosen by BASF to provide relocation, service and validation, said Dr. Tehrani.
This latest contract continues Biomatic's services for BASF. Biomatic was the sole contractor providing Y2K services to BASF at its Princeton, NJ, facility. Biomatic also provided IQ, OQ, PQ instrument validation services to BASF at Princeton, including validation for HPLC, LC/MS, GC, GC/MS, Capillary Electrophoresis, Liquid Scintillation Counters, Spectrophotometers and various other laboratory instruments.
Current Biomatic personnel have been working with BASF scientists (formerly American Cyanamid) on various scientific projects including on-site seminars and hands-on workshops on supercritical fluid extraction and capillary electrophoresis for recovery and identification of herbicides and pesticides in soil and other matrices, and CE and HPLC method development.
